METAL STITCH™

The METAL STITCH™ was developed by Gia in, founder and designer of Lab Accident in 2021, as an exploration of alternative ways to construct leather goods. Seeking to move beyond traditional stitching, she devised a technique that uses metal elements to bind leather panels together, transforming a structural necessity into a defining aesthetic feature.

Designed to echo the rhythm of a conventional stitch, the construction simultaneously evokes the appearance of a vertebral column, with each metal element aligning like a series of interconnected bones. This duality—part seam, part spine—reflects the fusion of anatomy, machinery, and fantasy that defines the world of Lab Accident.

What began as an experimental construction method evolved into a signature of the brand. By exposing and celebrating the mechanics of assembly, the METAL STITCH™ blurs the boundary between craftsmanship, engineering, and adornment.

Over the years, the technique has become instantly recognizable as part of Lab Accident’s visual language. More than a decorative detail, it serves as a recurring symbol within Gia’s fictional universe, where luxury objects appear as relics from an imagined world shaped by mutation, invention, and transformation.
